I was very hesitant to start equine therapy because I didn’t know how it was going to work for me but a family member persuaded me to give it a try. I was struggling with self esteem, post-partum depression, anxiety, trust issues and anger. I felt like I had tried multiple other options such as talk therapy and acupuncture that weren’t working for me. I was at a point where I felt paralyzed by anxiety all the time and not dealing with the day to day task of being a wife, mother and trying to run a business. I felt like I was losing control of the situations around me. I had terrible experiences with horses in the past so I was scared to start this type of therapy but had faith that Ashley would make me comfortable. The first couple of lessons Ashley worked on getting me comfortable with the horses and trained me the right way on how to approach a horse and guided me each step of the way. I was in tears one day when it suddenly clicked how horse therapy was working for me. Just the week before I was terrified to even be near a horse and there I was walking alone in the pasture with Lefty, one of her horses. I realized that it was the first step in having faith and trust that everything was going to be ok. I could feel myself regaining confidence that would help me get through my daily battles. Ashley and her gentle horses are teaching me to be a strong independent woman who can take on my life with strength that I didn’t have before. Ashley is a compassionate person who listens and offers great advice while also helping you find ways to take life by the reins and become a better version of you, the person you want to be. Equine therapy has truly helped me get my life back on track and I am excited to see what my future holds.
